Cornmeal, also known as Milli-pop, is one of the favorite staple foods in Swaziland. Often families use it for all meals of the day. Through the generous donations of a sponsor, Bulembu has now purchased, installed and set-up a mill, which processes the corn. The corn is transported to Bulembu in mass quantity and then processed according to demand in the community.
By producing Milli-pop locally residents will be able to purchase Milli-pop for 15% less than the current cost. Excess waste from the process is used for feed for the dairy cows, offsetting even more costs.
The excitement of the community is a testament to the importance of providing this staple food for the people in Bulembu.
